The Vintage Housekeepers Circle gives you simple ways to bring the charm to any home. Our home is our refuge and we should feel that when we walk through the door. This book gives us the whys and hows to do that in short bursts of inspiration.

I really like this book and would be happy to buy a hardcover were one available. Alison May takes us back to another era in terms of housekeeping. It's not a how-to book full of clever tips to "get it over with so you can get back to you real life." This IS part of your life and keeping up on it makes less work of it. Rather her intention is to show that housekeeping is something that must be done anyway, even the bits that aren't your favorite. Therefore you should put on a pretty pinny (aka "apron") for attitude, do things on a regular basis (schedule), reward yourself once in a while ("puttery treats")... and if you're having one of those days, don't worry about it. It will still be there tomorrow to deal with, so no guilt trips.
It consists of little short chapters. Basically one little hint at a time as to how you might go about gussying up your nest. Easy to read and you don't feel compelled to read it all at once since each section stands on its own.
Housekeeping can be awesome. Ms. May proves it. It so felt like sitting with an old friend. I would love to visit her cottage. I can't wait to apply some of her tips and see the potential in my home and in myself.
I loved this book, loved her style of writing, was easy to read and just rather lovely.
